Ten Tiny Fireflies

When the sun goes down, the fireflies come out. Little lights, floating in the dark.

Blink. Blink. Blink.

Tonight there are ten tiny fireflies. Let's watch them go to sleep.

One firefly floats down to a leaf. Its light goes... out. Now there are nine.

One firefly floats down to a flower. Out. Now there are eight.

One firefly sits on a stone. Out. Seven.

One firefly hides in the grass. Out. Six.

One firefly rests on a branch. Out. Five.

Shhh. It's getting darker now.

One firefly floats down. Out. Four.

One more. Out. Three.

One more. Out. Two.

One more. Out. One.

One last tiny firefly. It blinks, very slowly. Blink... blink...

Out.

Now the garden is dark and soft and quiet. All the little lights are sleeping.

And it's time for you to sleep too, little one.
