Annamacharya's lullaby
Told in English, Telugu.
Long, long ago, there lived a poet. His name was Annamacharya. He loved to sing. He sang soft songs for little Krishna.
Little Krishna lay in a cradle. The cradle rocked. This way. That way. This way. That way.
And Annamacharya sang, so softly.
Jo Achyutananda, jo jo Mukunda.
Achyuta is Krishna. Mukunda is Krishna too. And jo jo means sleep, sleep, little one.
Can you say it with me? Jo jo. Jo jo.
The moon came out. The moon said, shhh. Can you say shhh? Shhh.
The cow in the shed said a sleepy moo. Moo. Then the cow closed her eyes. Jo jo.
The little bird in the tree said a sleepy tweet. Tweet. Then the bird tucked in her head. Jo jo.
The cradle rocked. This way. That way.
Jo Achyutananda, jo jo Mukunda.
Little Krishna yawned. A big, big yawn. Can you yawn too? Aaah.
Now you are in your cradle. Amma is here. Nanna is here. The cradle rocks. This way. That way.
Jo jo. Jo jo.
Your hands are soft. Your feet are warm. Your eyes are heavy, heavy.
Shhh. Jo jo.
Jo Achyutananda, jo jo Mukunda.
Sleep, little one. Sleep, sleep. Jo jo.
